Bioregion begins with a simple act: noticing.
You’re outside and you notice a plant. You open the app, scan the plant, and it becomes something more than background—a species with a name, traits, and a role within a larger system. As you move through the landscape, you begin to collect, recognize, and interact with what’s around you. Plants aren’t just objects; they become part of a shared ecology you can learn from and build within.
Over time, the places you visit start to feel different. Paths become routes of discovery. Parks become living maps. What once felt passive becomes something you actively participate in.
Bioregion isn’t about escaping into another world—it’s about realizing you were already in one.

How It Works
App Flow
Bioregion is more than a plant-identification app, and more than a game. It's a way of moving through the places you already live — noticing what's there, learning names, and building a record of your own encounters over time.

Explore
Our map pulls together species records and park boundaries that exist nowhere else in combination — turning the green spaces near you into sites of discovery, each with its own set of collectable plants.

Scan
Point and click to identify a plant and add it to your collection. Our proprietary on-device AI model identifies over 80,000 plants with 95% accuracy. A passing curiosity becomes a permanent memory.

Collect
Your Archive logs every card you've collected. Each card is a hand-designed sticker paired with your own photo, framed in a polaroid — your own field journal, rather than a sterile field guide. The ones you haven't met yet leave their spaces open.

Engage
Compete against friends in ID quests, or group up to tackle a weekly challenge. Complete quests to earn rewards, while uncovering the hidden truths of the botanical world. A competitive card game, in development, extends the collection into head-to-head play.
